Easter in the Time of Covid

Easter 2020. Most of the world is currently under lockdown. People are urged to stay at home and public life is shut down completely. In a seemingly dark and precarious season, it is easier to abandon hope than to keep the faith that better days are looming.

For the believers of Christ, it is a different story. No lockdown, no quarantine, no pandemic can stop the followers of Jesus from celebrating the resurrection of God the Savior – the most momentous event in history.

Without the resurrection, the foundation of our Christian faith is pointless. Reading the Bible, praying, and worshipping are irrelevant. If Jesus remained in the grave, His life and death are insignificant. How could we trust Him? How can a dead God save anyone?

But He did not stay in the tomb. When the stone was rolled away and Jesus walked into the light of day that Easter morning, we have been given the assurance of a great future. He is risen! He is alive! Because He lives, nothing can stop us from singing and speaking about the living Savior!

If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus, the best time to do so is NOW. God already did the difficult part by dying on the cross. Your part is to receive Him. Admit that you are a sinner. We all are. Believe that He willingly gave Himself up for your salvation. Confess that Jesus is your Lord and Savior by acknowledging that He is your Master.

Regardless of what is happening all over the world, the fact that Jesus is alive and is living in my heart is enough to get me through this life. This, you can likewise confidently say, if you accept the risen Savior.

Happy Easter, everyone!

“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. – John 14:1-3

Below are a few photos from Easter concert five years ago. For five consecutive years, I directed this children’s choir that performed every Easter night in our local church.
